Tomorrow starts the last week of term! Then I have another whole week to finish a paper worth my entire grade, and then it's Christmas break! For almost a month! A bunch of us here at the flat are staying for Christmas so it will be a fun time here, then I have an awesome friend from Murica, by way of Bavaria, coming to stay for New Years, and then the flatmates and I might do some travelling! Yet to be planned...
The Christmas fever has hit - we don't have a tree in the flat yet, but I helped decorate one in the hall common room for everyone to share. The parties have started too, I went to a nice one with the Rotary District here in London on Friday. They served Fish and Chips as a twist on Christmas dinner - and my first fish and chips! (It wasn't bad, but I guess I was expecting life changing). It was nice to catch up with everyone before we all spread out back home or off travelling for Christmas. Then Saturday I visited a friend who lives in Oxford for her Christmas/Housewarming party and met a few of her friends, had my millionth mulled wine (it's really something than needs a good long mulling - I'm an expert now, you see) and had an adventure getting home late at night (it's time the tube ran 24 hours on weekends). Then there are 4 (FOUR!) christmas parties coming this week as well as my mom's birthday (see I didn't forget!) and the end of term.
I was feeling bit homesick and low this week, so I made a point of seeing more of London - British Museum always deserves a second visit, Covent Garden and the life size Lego Santa and Reindeer, Leicester Square complete with little Christmas fair, Piccadilly Circus, window shopping up Regent street, and finding some pretty good mexican food on the way home! I noticed today that no one strings christmas lights up outside their homes, and have been really missing that. But London does it up with lights pretty much all year round, so it's hard not to feel festive. Bring on the mulled wine for the last week of term!
OH! I also heard back from DOTW and am officially a volunteer for their clinic! I'll start in a couple weeks after some intense training and shadowing. Can't wait!
