On the days when I'm missing home, feeling discouraged or just suck at being an au-pair I make a list of things that I am grateful for here. Yesterday was one of those days. So I made a list of things I'm really proud of:
- I can talk on the phone to Germans. In German. And about half the time understand the conversation topic.
- I have travelled alone, survived, and enjoyed it.
- I have managed to not lose a single lip balm. I still have one I got for Christmas! AND it has only been through the wash once!
- I can ride my bike with broken gear shift up our massive hill home from Prien in 18 minutes, without having to stand up for more power. Even if it means I am sometimes pedaling without actually moving forwards.
- I have made friends!
- I have gotten R to say "Excuse me" regularly and sometimes even "Sorry"!
- I have stopped screaming at spiders. Now I just get out the vaccuum.
- I have learned to bake without measuring cups! The whole of Europe has yet to discover these critical tools. Also in Celcius!
But today is CANADA day! So we are going to party it up!
